How can I get a library card?

Bring current identification with a photo and proof of your current address to the desk.  A valid, accurate driver's license is all you need.  Alternatively, most forms of identification with a photo are acceptable.  Other methods of proof of address include a current utility bill, pay statement, or checkbook.

If you have not previously had a card from any of the libraries in the Winnefox Library System, you may apply for a temporary library card online.  Completing this form will generate a temporary, non-renewable library card that will be valid for 30 days.  You will be able to use the temporary card to place holds and access many online resources.  To checkout materials or use other library resources, you will need to come in to the library and complete your library card application process.

Where can I use my Omro Library Card?

Your card will work at any Winnefox Library System library.  This includes Neenah, Oshkosh, and many other libraries in Winnebago, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, and Waushara counties.

What does a library card cost?

There is no charge for your card.  If you lose your card and need to replace it, there is a $0.50 replacement fee.

How long may I borrow the library materials that I check out?

  • most books, books on CD, & music CDs: 28 days
  • new books: 14 days
  • DVDs, videos, & magazines: 7 days

When you check out, you will be given a receipt listing your due dates.

Can I return books belonging to other libraries to the Omro Library?

You may return books from other Winnefox Library System libraries at the Omro Library.  You may also return Omro library books to any of the other Winnefox library locations.

What if I haven't finished with my item before it's due?

You can renew most items twice, as long as there are no reserves on them and they are not overdue.  Items can be renewed online using Your Account or the Winnefox app, in person at the library, over the telephone (920-685-7016), or via text if you subscribe to our text alerts system.

What are the fees for keeping an item out beyond its due date?

If items are due or overdue, please renew them. However, the Omro Library no longer charges late fees on materials that you check out from this library. (Fees for lost or damaged items still apply.)  Get the details here.

What if my library materials get damaged?

It is your responsibility to return all library materials in good condition.  When an item is damaged, you will have to pay for its repair or replacement.

If I would like an item that is currently checked out, or is owned by another Winnefox library, how do I get it?

If the material you would like appears in our online catalog, you may place a hold on it.  To place a hold in the catalog, click on the words "Hold Any Copy" (or "Hold Specific Copy" if you need to request a specific copy) next to the item you would like, and follow the instructions.  You will need to enter your library card number (no spaces or dashes) and your PIN (generally the last 4 digits of the phone number we have on file for you).  You may also place holds in person at the library, or over the telephone (920-685-7016).  When the item arrives at the library for you, you will receive a notice by phone, email, or text.  You will have seven days from the date of the notification to pick up the item.

Can I let a friend use my card to check out library materials?

We don't recommend it.  You are responsible for all items checked out on your card, and it is your responsibility to make sure that all items are returned on time to the library.  If you lend your card to a friend, you are still responsible for all items checked out on it.
