Bring some form of identification to the main desk at the library. Identification can be a driver's license or official notice, such as a utility bill, as long as the address shown is current. Cards are issued for immediate use. Under age 14, children must have a parental signature.

You do not need to be a resident of Omro to apply for a library card.

Yes, you may use your Omro Library card at other Winnefox Library System locations. Some of these locations include the Berlin, Neenah, Menasha, Oshkosh, Wildrose, Wautoma, and Westfield Public Libraries. If you are certain you've lost your library card, you may apply for another one. There is a fee for replacement cards: $.50.

You may request your reserve, soon to be due, and overdue notices, be sent to you by e-mail. Just call 685-7016 and a library staff member can add your e-mail address to your account. Or you can do it yourself by going to Your Account. Type in your library card number (on the back of your card) with no spaces and your PIN, which is the last four digits of your phone number. Click on 'Login' and your 'Patron Account Information' should appear on the screen. On the left hand side of the screen under your address you will see 'Change Email Address'. Enter the necessary information.

Yes, there are fines for overdue materials:

  • Adult materials: $.10/day $5.00 total
  • Youth materials: $.05/day $3.00 total
  • Reference materials: $1.00/day $10.00 total
  • Video & DVD's: $.50/day

You may check out up to 100 items on your library card, however, there are limits on the following items due to high demand:

Same subject: 5 for most

  • new books: 14 days
  • audiobooks: 21 days
  • books on CD: 21 days
  • CDs: 21 days
  • DVDs: 7 days
  • videos: 7 days
  • magazines: 7 days
  • CD-ROMs: 21 days

You may return books from other Winnefox Library System libraries at the Omro Public Library. Some of these libraries include the Berlin, Neenah, Menasha, Oshkosh, Wautoma, Westfield, and Wildrose Public Libraries. A complete listing of Winnefox Library System libraries can be found at the Winnefox Library System web site. Omro Public Library books may be returned at any of those locations as well.

You can place holds at the library or while using the library's online catalog. you may also call 685-7016, and a Librarian will place a hold for you. To place a hold on an item when using our web catalog, click on the words Place Hold. A login screen will appear. You will need to type in the entire number from the back of your library card under the words Library Card Number. Do not type in spaces or dashes in your library card number. Next to your library card number, type in your PIN. The PIN is the last four digits of your phone number. Next choose either First Available Copy or Specific Copy. After you click on one of the previous options you will be asked to re-enter your PIN. A Submit Hold screen will appear. Check to see that Omro is the pickup location. If this is correct, click on the words Submit Hold. You will receive a notice by phone or e-mail when the item arrives at the library for you.

If the material you would like appears in our online catalog, you may place a reserve on it. The item will then be sent to the Omro Public Library for you.

If the item does not appear in our catalog, you may request the item be ordered through Interlibrary Loan. Stop at the Reference Desk or call 685-7016 for assistance.

The Omro Public Library has several databases available for the public. Through our online catalog, you may access our library's collection as well as those of other Winnefox Library System libraries including the Berlin, Neenah, Menasha, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac Public Libraries.

Other databases available at the library:

  • BadgerLink provides a variety of databases including EBSCOhost, Newspaper Indexes, and BadgerCat. BadgerLink is a project provided by the Division for Libraries and Community Learning of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
  • Heritage Quest: find ancestors and relatives in the U.S. Federal Census from 1790-1880, 1900-1930 and find information on people and places described in over 25,000 family and local histories. A valid Omro Public Library card is needed to use Heritage Quest outside of the library building.
  • WISCAT: Database of library holdings across Wisconsin.

  • Internet: There are six Internet computers available to the public. The Omro Public Library also provides Wireless Internet Access.
  • Word Processors: There are four word processors in the Adult Department that have access to Microsoft Word 2000, Excel 2000, Powerpoint 2000, and Access 2000.

The Library has two photocopiers available for public use. It costs $.10 per page for a copy. There is one typewriter for the public, first come first served. There is a fee of $.25 per 15 minutes, and you will need to bring your own paper or buy some at the main desk for $.05 per sheet. All equipment is for use only in the library.
